Built in 1796 as a functioning distillery, the ruins now serve as a museum to give visitors a close-up look at an important part of Dominican history.

Visitors to the Museum of Rum will be able to explore the ruins of the distillery, as well as learn about a number of artifacts that have been gathered over the years. The museum itself is set in the ruins of a distillery. It has recently been refurbished to give visitors a good idea of how it looked when it was new at the beginning of the nineteenth century.

There are two other structures on the property (besides the distillery), which serves as the owner’s quarter and an income generating cottage. Each building is independent of each other, self-contained and private.
